I tallied the numbers for our grocery expenses so far this month and they totaled $257.55. Not to bad but I was really hoping we could just spend that amount for the whole month, not gonna happen. I have a small grocery list that I need to go purchase. I think that will be it for the month though.
One thing I have learned in all of this is we are snackers. We go though alot of snack foods and I doubt that will change. So I really really need to plan for these also. I will be starting that with my small grocery list for the rest of the month. I also need to be more proactive about making some snacks for us from scratch. I think that would really help with keeping our grocery budget low.
Snacks can add up!
ReplyDeleteYou are right they do add up fast. I am hoping to come up with a plan to help with this!
DeleteI can relate, we are huge snack lovers over here. I budget for them but we always seem to need more than I buy. If you come up with any good homemade snacks, let me know! :)
ReplyDeleteI'll do a post soon on what I come up with to battle this problem :)
DeleteWe snack a lot too. I try to teach the kids right now how to snack on healthy stuff like carrots and apples. It works but it's a slow process:)
ReplyDeleteWe are out of most fruit. So that is on the list to go and buy for the rest of the month :)
DeleteGreat Job on the grocery bill! My daughter is the biggest snacker of all of us. She is always hungry right after school, the boys go to a babysitter so they get an after school snack there. I have apples but she always wants cereal. That gets expensive quick!
ReplyDeleteKim, I rarely buy cereal. When all 5 kids were here all the time we would easily go through a box of cereal a day. When I decided to get serious about paying off our debt I stopped buying it. Now that there is only 2 kids here I go buy th occasional box :)
DeleteI have some good snack recipes and Chex Mix style recipes from my Grandma. Mike is total snacker! ~ Alissa
